A Better Chess Experience

We're making school chess more fun and accessible by offering easy online competition. Students can see their opponents, play together with friends, and connect with other schools without leaving campus.

A portable chess experience that works anywhere you can be online (one team played a match while on a field trip at the Grand Canyon!). Play similarly skilled peers, watch your teammates in between games, and climb the leaderboard!

Hear from our Community

My students and I just joined Rookly and absolutely love it! Rookly keeps the kids engaged with weekly tournaments against peer schools, provides balanced competition for players of all levels, and develops team spirit as the players cheer each other on. It's quickly becoming the highlight of the week for many and driving our club membership to record levels!

How Rookly Works

We created Rookly to make competitive chess easy and fun for schools, no matter your resources or chess experience. (We can even find a coach for you...really!)

Everyone Gets to Play

Your school buys seats that can be shared among different students, so more kids get a chance to compete and enjoy the game.

Play as a School

Students play together at school, making it a team experience. Any teacher can supervise - no chess knowledge needed.

Go for Gold

Why should other teams have all the fun? Rookly leagues build up to an exciting playoffs finale, with the champion being crowned after a winner-take-all tournament.

Why we started Rookly

We've been playing chess together since we were six years old at Horace Mann. Even when we were separated — during COVID or at different colleges across the country — chess kept us connected.

We noticed that many schools struggle with chess competitions because of all the logistics involved. We built Rookly to solve that problem - no more worrying about travel, scheduling, or finding space. Now any school can have a thriving chess program.
