Current League Leader
Your chess quest starts right here.
Top spots, top schools
Screen time you don’t have to second-guess.
Quest isn’t a video to sit through or a game to tap at. It’s real chess, wrapped in a story you actually want to finish.
Thinking, not scrolling.
Every challenge in Quest is a real chess position. Your kid plans a move, tries it, and tries again when it doesn’t work.
Made by chess people.
Quest comes from the team that runs the Rookly School League, with input from grade schoolers AND grandmasters.
Progress you can actually see.
The quest map shows how far they’ve come, the dashboard shows what they’ve learned and how they compare.
The stuff we left out, on purpose.
There’s enough to worry about online these days, without having to sweat the fun chess game you want to play. So we made it safe by default.
Not all screen time is the same.
A plain look at what your kid is actually doing in each.

Kindergarten through 12th grade, at every level, including total beginners.
What do they need to play?
Any modern browser, on any device. There’s nothing to download.
Is there anything to buy?
No in-app purchases. Kids are never nudged to buy cosmetics or boosts, and the League is arranged through your school.
Do they need an account?
Yes. Kids make their own account; if they’re under 13, a parent or guardian approves it by email.
Can they talk to other players?
No. Quest is a solo game; the only dialogue comes from in-game characters. League matches have no chat.
What will they actually learn?
Players help the kingdom by starting with the fundamentals, then moving through to tactics, learning and growing as they go in order to save the day.
How long is a session?
Quest: anywhere from a minute to as long as they like. The map remembers where they stopped. League: an hour a week, with their club at school.

Made by friends who’ve played chess together since they were six.
We met over a chessboard at Horace Mann, and chess kept us connected ever since. We built the School League so any school could compete. We built Quest so any kid can start, wherever they are.
